Junior and Senior Masters Victorious in Huntsville!
For the first time ever, the Brampton Senior Masters and Brampton Junior Masters lacrosse clubs swept the 'A' Championships. The Junior Masters defeated Whitby 2 6-5 in OT to secure their first ever 'A' championship. Following the Junior Masters victory, the Senior Masters were able to defend their way to a 5-4 win over the Toronto Beaches for their 7th 'A' championship in their last 9 tournaments.
Goaltending and Defence was the story for both clubs in their championship weekends. Junior goalies Paul Edwards and Ken Larsen held their opponents to just 21 goals in 4 games to post a 5.25 GAA. In what is becoming old news in the Senior Masters Division, goals against Brampton were very hard to come by. Warren Boddam and Casey Nichols delivered the goods for the Seniors allowing just 13 goals in 4 games for a 3.25 GAA.
The Junior Masters got to the finals on the strength of a come from behind 6-4 win over London and a strong 7-4 win over Barrie. An 8-5 setback against Whitby 1 wasn't enough to keep them out of their second consecutive 'A' championship. The Senior Masters sandwiched a hard fought 5-5 tie with Whitby in between a pair of big wins, 10-2 over Aurora and 11-2 over Durham. Both teams next see action July 18th-20th in Owen Sound.
